Meet the dads who could take your dad for a skydive

It’s that time of year again when treating Dad to a special gift or day out is tradition (and encouraged). If you’re thinking of a Father’s Day skydive, there’s no place more beautiful than Rottnest Island.

And guess what? Our skydiving instructors are fathers too. Our experienced tandem instructors are caring, responsible, hard-working, and always keen on lots of fun. This means that your dad is in good hands with our qualified skydiving instructors.

In this post, meet the skydiving dads who could be the one to take your dad for the most incredible experience gift on Father’s Day or any other day of the year!

Big Daddy

Glenn Stutt is not only the owner of Skydive Geronimo, he’s also the Chief Pilot and Chief Skydive Instructor. Glenn is dad to seven-year-old Kingston, a boy with a big smile and cheeky, fun-loving personality. If he’s at the drop zone, you’ll recognise him – he looks just like his dad. And he’s into motorcycles, like his dad too.

A typical outing for these two includes motocross racing. On a recent trip to the USA, Glenn and Kingston (and mum, Amy) visited RedBud, a motocross race track in Michigan. Kingston met motocross legend John Tomac and his racer son, Eli Tomac. He also got the rock star treatment all the way: signed jersey and goggles, photos, private trailer hangs, and a tour of the Kawasaki trailer. It’s safe to say Dad was a bit jealous of his boy.

Action Dad

Paul Morton joined the Geronimo team in 2016 as a skilled and very experienced skydive instructor. Like Glenn, Paul is also father to one son: 13-year-old, Tai.

Paul took Tai for his first tandem skydive on his sixth birthday in New Zealand (where there’s no minimum age to skydive). Since then, this jumping father and son duo have completed seven skydives together, mostly on or around Tai’s birthday. They’ve never done a Father’s Day skydive – that may have to wait until the boy is a licensed skydiver. When they’re not in the air together, you may find them at the skatepark or at an indoor climbing gym.

New Daddy

Boys are abundant at Skydive Geronimo! Carlos Gutierrez Rizo is the newest skydiving dad on the Geronimo team and like Glenn and Paul, he has a son. Carlos will enjoy his first Father’s Day this year as dad to baby Santiago.

Carlos hails from Colombia. One of his favourite things to do with Santiago is read and sing to him in Spanish at bedtime. He says he and Santiago’s mum, Vicki, are “completely in love” with their baby boy and they enjoy spending family time at the beach.

It’s natural for a father to have a dream for his child and Carlos’s dream for Santiago is to become a pilot. Could Santiago be a pilot at Skydive Geronimo someday? You never know.

Step-Dad

Skydive instructor Jimmy Baker is also a new dad. Well, he’s playing dad to his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter and having a great time. Jimmy says the child likes to call him Dad and wants him to be around all the time. Sounds like Jimmy might get spoiled this Father’s Day.
