Meet the Celebrities Who Love Skydiving
From movie stars to singers to pro-athletes to reporters, these are the high-profiles that have jumped from perfectly good airplanes
Skydiving and celebrity status may not go hand-in-hand but there are a few big names who have taken the plunge and loved every minute of it.
Our friends over at Skydive Dubai have a growing list of famous celebrities who’ve skydived over The Palm and honestly if you were there, why wouldn’t you?
The beautiful people, like Rita Ora, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Bella Hadid and Michelle Rodriguez have all experienced that stunning view during their tandem skydive but we think we can better it.
Skydiving over our dropzones at the Busselton Jetty and Rottnest Island are just as, if not more, beautiful and we guarantee the star treatment to every customer.
We’ve been honoured to have taken several pro-athletes, singers, journalists and even a celebrity chef for skydives.
Here’s our growing list of celebrities and high-profile professionals who have skydived with us over the years. Wonder who will be next…
Manu Feidel, Celebrity Chef
Foodies and reality TV show addicts know and love French celebrity chef Manu Feidel best as a judge on My Kitchen Rules with Pete Evans. Manu jumped with us at our Busselton location many moons ago and here’s what our director Glenn remembers about the day:
“Manu caught me eating two-minute noodles. That was embarrassing.”
Manu may not have been impressed with his tandem instructor’s lunch, but he was stoked with his jump over the Busselton Jetty. Now, who’s hungry?
Danny Willet, Pro-Golfer
When the ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth golf tournament was on, Danny Willet took a day to go sightseeing in style. Our highly-experienced skydive instructor, Ryan, took Danny on an epic heli-skydive over Rottnest. “What a day” was the caption on one of Danny’s Instagram shares. What a day indeed.
Pat Cash and Coco Vandeweghe, Professional Tennis Players
Summertime in Australia means long, hot, sunny days on the beach. It also means that the tennis is on. Australians love their tennis and hold top players in high regard. Melbourne-born Pat Cash is one of those players with “legend” status. Pat’s golden year was 1987. That was when he won Wimbledon and started a winner’s tradition of climbing into the stands to celebrate with friends, family and fans. Pat is now retired from competing but not from the sport.
He’s now coach to American pro-tennis player, Coco Vandeweghe and what better experience to share on a day off from the Mastercard Hopman Cup than skydiving. The tennis team plummeted over Rotto and although Pat’s first words were, “Oh my god, I’m not going to do that again” (his face tells a different story), Coco said it was “unbelievable” which leaves this duo skydiving experience score at love-1.
Taj Burrow, Pro-Surfer
Taj Burrow is a well-known Margaret River region local and former pro-surfer who’s not a stranger to adrenaline rushes of the ocean kind. But take anyone up to 8,000 feet above the Indian Ocean in a luxury helicopter with the prospect of jumping out and heart rates are going to soar. Taj told media that jumping from a helicopter was more terrifying than any wave he’d ever surfed. Taj may not surf at a profession level anymore but he’s willing to go to epic heights to promote the sport that made him famous.
Winner, Korean K-Pop band
K-Pop band, Winner took to the skies over Rottnest and nearly ruined their singing voices with giddy screams and gut-aching laughter when they toured Australia in late 2017. The boy band trio were ecstatic during and after their jumps from 15,000 feet. Now that’s something to sing and dance about.
Tracy Vo, Journalist
Reporting journalists are sometimes asked to broadcast stuff that may cause them to scream and shout and have a hellava good time at work. That was the case when TV journalist Tracy Vo covered our helicopter skydiving over Rottnest Island in April 2017. When the parachute opened she said, ”that was awesome” and you can tell by the look on her face that it was not part of the script.
